Children's author Rick McAtee presents an evening for parents & their children that meets Title 1 Parent Involvement Standards.

What do you do during classroom visits?

I read to your students from the books I have written in the Alphabetland Series.  My presentation is tailored to meet the needs of your school and varies depending on the age group.  It is very interactive, involving the students through questions, problem solving and humor.   The day may consist of up to 8, ½ hour sessions, with one or two classrooms per session.

Parent Night Features

  • The research behind why you should read to and with your child
  • Demonstrating different ways to read to and with your child
  • Listening to children as Rick models the different techniques
  • Handouts to help build the routine of reading to and with your child
  • Helping overcome the issues preventing parents from reading to and with their child
  • Evening Session lasts 60 - 90 minutes

Do you sign your books?

I will be happy to bring copies of my books and sign them.  It would be preferable to presell the books and ship them to your location in advance.  I can provide you with a sample flyer to distribute to teachers and students.   We will need to set aside a time during my visit for the book signing.
